It is the first of its kind in whole of Andhra Pradesh to establish a school in
the year 1958 for the workers and adult dropouts with regular school studies.The
school has been reaching out to the most difficult cases in society such as school
drop outs, slow learners, illiterate and the workers who are forced to go out and
earn early in life due to economic pressure during childhood.It has already touched
the lives of thousands of students since its inception, by giving an opportunity
to improve basic skills in all subjects leading to a qualitative improvement in
their lives.The students may not have scored first class marks but their feat is
nevertheless admirable.Their success is not just a question of getting marks in
their exam,they have done it against great odds,they have struggled with their environment,
economic crisis and family opposition.The students were given time to work in the
morning and study in the evening.It is the only evening school which works from
6pm to 10 pm. It functions with Telugu as its Medium of instruction.
The founders of the school were mooted with the proposal that a worker in any field
should not only earn a livelihood but should get educated to facilitate him to ascend
higher strata in society.
About 60-70 students got admitted during the first year and gradually went up to
300 and more each year.
Many of the students not only passed but also became graduates and post graduates
with distinction.Now the school works with the modest strength of 100 students.We
aim to educate the workers right from their entry into the job upto qualifying the
student at the higher knowledge and at the same time contributing their might in
the production field.The students after completing their education should be able
to get a better job and at the same time get literate.
To keep the worker-students in good humour, apart from studies,they are taken
on excursion to different places.Various cultural activities were presented by them.
Foundation Day is always celebrated with pomp and gaiety.
